Right from the start this one appeared that it would be another long match. We biased homepool and came out to centre pool to see if GotD were around. They were not, but we soon noticed them bias the blue back pool and had an idea of what they would be doing - though they now had three places to come out and surprise us from.

They decided not to do this, and waited around at that pool for a long time, just peeping around the corner every now and then with both guilds taking pot shots at each other. This went on for quite some time, and GotD finally made more of a move on us when I was booted and it was down to 10 vs 9 for a minute. They took advantage of this and killed off Heeler_BL at the first available chance. I was back just too late, and they had the 10-9 advantage on us.

GotD then came out into the open where they now fancied their chances with us a man down. A battle ensued with a lot of mind, manastorm and airwalls flying around. I think I can safely say that all clerics were low on mana for a minute or so whilst we constantly battled face to face. Aginor_GotD was leading the attack and therefore first in the line of fire. We managed to take him out thanks to a few Manastorms being thrown in a most upward direction. We had got it back to 9 vs 9, and GotD immediately decided to retreat away from an open battle again.

This is how it remained for a very long time. GotD stayed camped in their backpool and homepool, and we weren't too willing to just walk into wall traps in the small rooms and corridors they were hidden in. We tried for ages to face them without walking down into traps, and we even split the team on several occasions in the hope that we'd be able to get to their camped spot from behind and pick one or two off. It was no use though as we just couldn't get in safely and they weren't willing to come out and play ball in the open after we'd evened the numbers up.

After an hour of this, we decided that unfortunately we'd just have to take the risk of trying to get right in to the last spot they were clinging onto, if we were ever going to see any action and hope for an outcome to the match. We required a bit of luck to get in safely - which we felt we deserved for actually going into them and trying to make a game of it. But sadly, as is often the case in these situations in DMs, luck wasn't on the side of the team trying to break into a camped spot, and we lost Dream after he was walled apart.

This made the match 9 vs 8, and we expected an immediate attack from GotD again. This didn't happen though, and we again looked for a way through. This time Darthmonk_BL was separated and killed. With a few minutes of the second match to go, GotD now felt they could come out and face us at 9 to 7. They came after us and we faced them at centre pool for a couple of minutes, but there were no deaths to either side.

After this match had ended, Rhune and SonOfHealer had to leave. They had stayed as long as they could and had felt disappointed with the way the game had gone. This was understandable at this point. Unfortunately we were told that we would not be allowed to replace these two - though it must be noted that PL_Shady and PL=Scooby requested that we should be offered this opportunity. We were also turned down a request at a postponement of the finishing of the match until next weekend. So we fought on, 9 vs 5. The last SoLDs went out and attacked to the last, with no intention of hiding away. We faced them at centre pool and were picked off pretty quickly - though I believe Gap managed one kill before we were finished off.

After further incidents outside - and being told we would definitely have to play the HtK right away, regardless - we made the decision that our time in the event had come to an end, and forfeited the HtK match to GotD.
