 SoLD vs BL, 10-30 NSW, Cats. SoLD - Balance. 7 Players, 196 levels. BL - Chaos. 8 players, 238 levels. This match looked doomed for us from the start. We were going to be starting with less numbers again - 12 levels to be precise - until Robin was booted shortly after arriving, so it turned out we started (and played the whole match) one and a half players down, with 42 levels less than BL. We decided we could not split the team too much as two separate groups would be far too easy for BL to pick off regardless of how they split their team. So we all went out together to take them on. It wasn't an all out attack as such, as we didn't imagine that we'd have many opportunities to attack with everyone without expecting our shrine to fall very quickly. Out in the middle of the arena we had most of the team holding BL as far away from our third of the arena and a couple of ours trying to hold down the Order shrine pool to reduce their Mages' ley. This was all working well as for the first 5 minutes, despite the fact that we were outnumbered badly, we were holding them well away from our shrine - although we weren't getting much closer to theirs. Still, least we hadn't lost in a minute like we thought we might. Then we pressed on a bit, and a couple of ours went through into BLs shrine to take it down. They held it down for a bit but this obviously weakened our resolve at the back and they got to ours. After a few worrying seconds we managed to get them back out and make sure we didn't lose the match because we were too eager to get to theirs. A few minutes after that we had again breached their defence and fortunately had 3 or 4 of their attackers too concerned with killing the two SoLDs that were causing them ley problems in Order shrine. We shrined theirs out and managed to keep their attack entertained and well away from both of the active shrines, giving us the victory after 9 minutes total. A great match and fantastic outcome considering it didn't look likely that we'd survive very long at all on paper. ~ Tel |
