about the match

SoLD vs SF, 10-30 NSW, Cats.

SoLD - Balance. 8 Players, 228 levels.
SF - Chaos. 8 players, 240 levels.

Well we went into this last two matches as we had done in every other match in the event - with a less-than-full team. But we were only about half a 30 down on SF so we knew we still had a strong chance if we played well.

This match went all the way to the wire. Both guilds had the other shrine down on several occasions, and both threatened to throw out the other side's defence at times during the match. SF were wisely filtering through into our defence a couple at a time to stop us being aware of their whole attack force at all times. This allowed them to sneak one person in unnoticed on many occasions, from the other side, and this was their most successful form of attack. On a couple of occasions they looked like they would get the better of our defence completely, but we held out all the way to the end of the match.

On attack we were a few levels down and getting their shrine and kicking them out was proving just as tough for us as it was them, and they too held out until the end of the match. So we knew it would all come down to what happened in the last minute. At around 03:00 SF were strongly attacking our shrine and we had most people back to defend. As it approached one minute they added another to attack and we struggled to get anyone back out onto attack to make a counter last-minute move. I managed to get away at one point and got into the SF shrine at around 00:55, but against the last couple of SF defenders it wasn't possible to get onto the shrine and damage it before being killed.

This was a great match and very enjoyable - other than the result of course. It will probably be the most memorable match of the event for us, with a great deal of tension and excitement.
